Good afternoon everyone. This past week (right before the hard freeze hit our area) we saw a boat out on the lake. They were boating back and forth across the entrance to our cove. We are located at the back of Charquitas Cove. Right where Charquitas creek meets the body of the lake. At this time the creek is completely dry and there is water in the deepest portion of the cove, might be 51% dry at this point and 49% still coved by water. Even though the water is not very deep, the folks in that boat appeared to be fishing. 🎣 I can’t tell you who they were since they were quite far away from Weber’s bulkhead. Don’t even know honestly if they were fishing or not by looked to me like they were.
The temperature outside is now above freezing. We had temperatures of 26° Fahrenheit overnight the last two nights. While it will get down into the mid to low 30’s then whole week at night, daytime temperatures will be nice and mild. Mid 50’s to 60’s most days this week. Next week we will achieve temperatures during the day in the 70’s. The lake water temperature is currently 52° Fahrenheit. When my brothers and I were in junior high and high school we would water ski in the lake before school sometimes. I can remember the water being that cold 🥶 in the 60’s when we would jump in to line up the ski tow rope. Crazy kids!
Lake Corpus Christi i11.2% full as of today’s date. Our lake water level is measured at 76.16 feet above sea level. Which is almost 18 feel low. Looking out across the lake right now.. See eeing all of those stumps expose and knowing they are right off the bottom. The lake looks much lower than 18 feet down. (17.84’ down to be exact)
The wind is light currently 2 mph out of the South Southeast. Gust are possible up to 7 mph. The highpoint today is going to be 54° F
Smooth lake surface for a kayak or paddle boarder. Or you could just walk out and fish, it’s only knee deep in most areas around the shore. (Unless your that guy who was cruising around back and forth last week) No doubt he already had his boat in the water before the lake got too low to launch a watercraft with a motor.
